Maria José Martins was born in Angola and holds a degree in Anthropology from ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon. With more than two decades of experience in communications, she has built a distinguished career in journalism, specializing in branding over the past 22 years.
She was a member of the founding team of *Imagens de Marca*, Portugal’s first television magazine dedicated to marketing and communications. Broadcast on SIC Notícias, one of the country’s leading news channels, the program is recognized for its remarkable longevity, having aired continuously for 22 years.
Today, she serves as Director of Creative Content and leads Brands Channel, the official YouTube channel of the Brands Community and a pioneer in the production of specialized content focused on branding and business. Through this platform, she contributes to the development of a knowledge-sharing community centered on brands, companies, and leadership.
Throughout her career, she has closely followed the evolution of the Portuguese market and brands across a wide range of industries, including tourism. She is also the author of more than 30 original series recognized for their innovative approach, as well as the creator of theatrical works, reflecting a multidisciplinary perspective on communication and creativity.
She has complemented her academic background with executive education in Luxury Products and Services Marketing from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics; Branded Content & Entertainment, Communication and Media Studies from APAN Academy; HR Branding from ISEG; and Verbal Design through Poets & Painters and IADE.
A strong advocate for the transformative power of creativity, she believes that great brands, like great stories, are built on purpose, authenticity, and the ability to create a lasting impact on people.
