Helena Norte
Editor-in-Chief
@ Jornal de Notícias
Helena Norte was born in 1971 in Porto. She initially studied Art History at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, before enrolling in the Journalism program at the now-defunct Porto Journalism Training Center. Shortly after completing her journalism training and a brief stint at a communications agency, she joined the newsroom of Jornal de Notícias (JN) in Porto in 1992. Over the years, she worked in nearly every section and explored all forms of journalism.
In 2015, she became editor of JN’s National section, leading a team focused on society, politics, and economy. Between 2021 and 2022, she served as editor of Notícias Magazine, the Sunday magazine then distributed with JN and Diário de Notícias (DN), before returning to JN – first as executive editor and currently as editor-in-chief.
Alongside her journalism career, Helena earned a degree in Psychology, completed a master’s in Clinical Psychology, and pursued various trainings in psychology and personal development. She is particularly interested in topics related to health, behavior, well-being, personal growth, and lifestyle. She also has a passion for travel, books, gastronomy, the arts, and discovering people, places, and new perspectives.
