Rob Symington

Rob is Co-CEO of Symington Family Estates and a member of the 5th generation of his family to produce port and wine in Portugal. Symington Family Estates are the world’s leading producer of premium port and one of the leading Portuguese wine producers. Rob’s areas of responsibility include commercial strategy, sales, marketing, wine tourism, people & culture and sustainability.

Rob is deeply invested in environmental issues and led Symington Family Estates’ involvement in various key sustainability initiatives: certification as a B Corporation, founding members of International Wineries for Climate Action, status as the first company to achieve Portugal’s new Sustainable Winegrowing Certification, and partnership with Rewilding Portugal.

Prior to joining his family business, he spent 10 years working in London, where he began his career in management consulting at Ernst & Young before starting his own business – called Escape the City – helping mainstream professionals make brave career changes in pursuit of more meaningful work. He attended schools in Portugal and England before completing an MA in Modern History at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, with a year at the University of Grenoble in France.

He lives in Porto with his partner and three children.
