Lúcia Costa Gonçalves was born in Porto in 1973 and studied at the Escola Superior de Jornalismo do Porto. She began her career at Primeiro de Janeiro, Rádio Nova, and Rádio Festival before joining SIC in 1996.
At SIC, she took on coordination roles, moderated debates, and worked as a special correspondent. Over the years, her journalistic work has been recognized with multiple awards. Her transition to writing was a natural extension of her television projects’ success, leading to the publication of books such as Vencer o Cancro (Overcoming Cancer) and Sobreviventes (Survivors).
In recent years, she has focused primarily on documentary production for Opto/SIC, with notable works including Vistos para a Vida(Visas for Life) and Unicórnios (Unicorns). Her documentary series Momentos Decisivos (Decisive Moments) received awards for two of its episodes.
Throughout her career, many of her in-depth reports have earned significant recognition, including O Mapa do Cancro (The Cancer Map), which won the Grand Journalism Prize from the Portuguese League Against Cancer in 2015.
Beyond journalism, she enjoys the challenge of moderating debates and forums and follows topics related to innovation, health, and wine tourism with great interest.
