Henrique Prata Ribeiro

Henrique Prata Ribeiro is a Psychiatrist at Beatriz Ângelo Hospital, an Assistant at Católica Medical School, and a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Minho. He is the author of several books and scientific publications, including Urgências Psiquiátricas (Psychiatric Emergencies) and Dormir é Fácil (Sleeping is Easy), co-authored with André Ponte, as well as Step-by-Step Psychiatry, published in collaboration with Professor Daniel Sampaio.

He has been involved in various causes related to patient access to healthcare, including developing a protocol with APAV, proposing amendments to the Mental Health Law to ensure that patients have the right to access outdoor spaces, and advocating publicly for individuals with schizophrenia to have access to fully subsidized medication. Until December 2024, he served as the Coordinator of the Mental Health Structure of the Azores, where he implemented the Mental Health Program for the Azores, which he designed.

He began his academic journey at the University of Coimbra and later taught at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lisbon before joining Católica. In parallel, he was heavily involved in rugby, playing for AAC in Coimbra and later for CDUL in Lisbon. He represented Portugal several times in youth national teams during those years.
