António Lobo Xavier

António Lobo Xavier, born in 1959, holds a Law degree and a master’s degree in Legal and Economic Sciences. He has had a distinguished academic career, serving as a University Professor of Economic Policy, Public Finance, Tax Law, and Administrative Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, areas in which he has also published various works.

Currently, he is the Chairman of the General and Supervisory Board of EDP, a non-executive director at NOS and BA Glass, and a board member at BPI. He was recently elected Vice President of Sogrape and also serves as a trustee at the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation and the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation.

Since 2016, he has been a State Councilor, appointed by the current President of Portugal. For over twenty years, he was a regular commentator on weekly television programs focused on political debate, solidifying his presence in the public sphere as a respected analyst and expert in political and economic affairs.
