Carlos Mota dos Santos

Carlos Mota dos Santos was born in Porto, Portugal, on May 13, 1978.

He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto and an MBA from the same institution.

His professional career began in 2002 at Mota-Engil, Engenharia e Construção, S.A., where he joined as Executive Board Assistant. In 2008, he became a member of the company’s Board of Directors and, between 2011 and 2012, also served on the Supervisory Board of Mota-Engil Angola.

Over the years, Carlos took on increasing responsibilities within the group, becoming Vice-Chairman and later Chairman of the Board of Mota-Engil, Engenharia e Construção. In February 2019, he joined the Executive Committee of Mota-Engil SGPS as Vice-Chairman and currently serves as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Mota-Engil SGPS, S.A. He also leads Mota-Engil Latin America.

In addition to these roles, he holds several other leadership positions within the group: he has been Chairman of the Board of Mota-Engil Latin America since 2013, Vice-Chairman of ECB – Empresa Construtora Brasil since 2021, and Chairman of the Board of Valorsul – Solid Waste Recovery and Treatment for the Lisbon and Western Regions since 2024, having served on its Board since 2015.
