Sofia Carvalho is a Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist, Specialist in Clinical and Health Psychology accredited by the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP). She completed her academic training in Porto and holds the European Certificate of Psychology (EuroPsy), awarded by the OPP under the European Model of Professional Competencies.
She has advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies for Adults, the approach that underpins her entire clinical practice, as well as specialized training in Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults, coaching, and certified pedagogical training (CCP).
She is the Founder and Clinical Director of Clínica Sofia Carvalho, an exclusively online psychology clinic serving Portuguese-speaking clients worldwide. She coordinates a senior and highly specialized team of clinical psychologists. She strongly believes that culture plays a central role in psychological intervention and works while traveling internationally, becoming Portugal’s first digital nomad psychologist.
Before dedicating herself exclusively to online clinical practice, she worked in a corporate environment, where she was responsible for happiness, mental health, and well-being programs for approximately 500 employees—an experience that significantly shaped her work with professionals in high-responsibility leadership roles.
Her main area of specialization is burnout, both from a clinical and preventive perspective. She also works with depression, anxiety, adult ADHD, and personal development. She regularly delivers training programs and is frequently invited as a subject-matter expert to conferences and professional training sessions on mental health and burnout.
Her professional journey and clinical work have attracted media attention, and she has been interviewed by several national media outlets, including CNN Portugal, RTP, Observador, Antena 1, and TSF. She also appears regularly as a guest on podcasts dedicated to mental health and burnout.
Her clinical and educational practice is grounded in a scientific, neuroscientific, ethical, human-centered, and culturally sensitive approach, based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
