Through his rebuilding of the integrated marketing team and client solutions strategy, Slattery has been instrumental in the brand’s resurgence over the last two years, helping generate significant growth in partnership revenue for its signature events (Fast Company Innovation Festival, Fast Company Grill during SXSWi, Fast Company Impact Council), its branded content studio (FastCo Works), and its all-new podcasts.
Previously, he spent years leading the marketing teams for iconic brands like TIME, Sports Illustrated and FORTUNE, before taking a leadership role in Time Inc.’s corporate ad sales and marketing vertical structure. As CMO of the SI Group, he led marketing and branding for the SI and GOLF portfolios, including SI Kids, FanSided, 120 Sports and SI Films. At SI, he spearheaded the successful re-launch of the Sports Illustrated Podcast Network, and he launched the Sports Illustrated Overtime branded content studio to build award-winning content solutions for top marketers.
Earlier, Slattery spent years as a reporter for Sports Illustrated while also writing feature films for numerous independent producers and documentaries for leading cable outlets. In the 2000s, with TIME, Slattery was responsible for the marketing of the annual TIME 100 franchise and gala, and he led marketing for the redesigned TIME.com. He moved to FORTUNE as VP Marketing in 2012, added responsibility for MONEY in 2013, and steered marketing for the launch of all-new websites for both of those brands. Slattery is an experienced speaker and moderator at media and marketing industry events, and is a former instructor in screenwriting at New York University’s school of continuing studies.
